Banking

So I assumed I would have no problem opening up a bank account here so I brought traveler's checks and a cashier check with me. I was right but not with the bank that I had wanted to open an account with. There are three main banks on campus: Santander, Barclays, and Natwest. I wanted to open with Barclays, but since I am not essentially going for a degree from Warwick, I could not. I will not go into detail of how I found out, but if you are an exchange student, which you most likely will be, I am giving you a heads up that you will not (unless they change their policy) be able to get a international student account with them. You can get a cash card account so you can go that route if you please. I did end up being able to open up an account with another bank so it worked out. Just make sure to research what each bank has to offer, and do not let them talk you into an account that you do not want. On a brighter note, I discovered that the staff here are wonderful. I got really frustrated throughout the process and one of the student advisors noticed and calmed me down. They also went to the bank with me to sort things out and got me out of the place when it felt as though they were pushing me toward a decision. So do not be afraid to ask for any help. The staff is supper friendly and will go out of their way to help you, especially if they see that you are having a hard time.
